This classic portfolio uses elevations, floor plans, and other line drawings by Scotland's first great classical architect to document the country's 18th-century buildings. Unlike previous Vitruvius volumes, it features plans for many smaller structures and served as a model book for 19th-century American builders and architects. Its plates include of Adam's own designs.   Read Key Houses of the Twentieth Century: Plans, Sections and Elevations (Key Architecture Series) PDF Full Ebook Free 2. Book details Author: Colin Davies Pages: pages Publisher: W. W. Norton & Company Language: English ISBN ISBN

The buildings are organized by planning strategy and are divided into eight chapters, each with an informative introduction that ties the buildings back to iconic examples from the twentieth century. For each of the buildings included there are numerous, accurate scale plans showing a combination of floor plans, elevations and sections as 2/5(1). Title Plans, elevations, and sections, of noblemen and gentlemen's houses, and also of stabling, bridges, public and private, temples, and other garden buildings; executed in the counties of Derby, Durham, Middlesex, Northumberland, Nottingham and York.

The plans, elevations, and sections, form what is called a "set" of drawings, but in addition to these a number of other drawings are also prepared; these, as already stated in a previous paragraph, are known as " details or " detailed drawings," which, in number and elaboration of finish, vary according as the architect may consider necessary. To draft your elevation plans, you will start with your floor plans for the main floor of your house. The easiest method is to draw your elevations to the same scale as your floor plans. To make the process a bit easier: Tape your main floor plan drawing to the surface of your work table with the front side of the house facing towards you.
